Speed Work January 28, 2006

Saturday Jan 28th at 8 AM at USM track is open to everyone.

We will be doing 20x200m repeats, this is not a time trial, it is a track workout , so it will not take long as last Saturday. You do not have to complete 20 of them, you may rest in between.

If you do not like to do speed work at the track yet you still believe that it will make a difference on your marathon time and you hate to do it by yourself, this is your chance. Yousri will be hosting along with
Southern Miss Track office a fun track practice for everyone, it will be a blast.

Who can participate? Everyone, it does not matter what shape you are in (Kids and Parents are welcome)

Entry fee: NONE

If you have any questions or to confirm that you are coming, please e-mail Yousri at cityrunners2003@yahoo.com

I hope to see you there

Thanks

Yousri

Report on the January 22nd session:
Everyone,

I just want to thank and appreciate all for participating on Sunday's Time trial workout at the USM Track. It looked like everyone had a nice workout and
a blast. We are looking to keep doing this for the upcoming weeks (this coming Saturday we will have another session of speed work. I will be Sending the
400m,800m,4x100m and 4x200m results later.

Now as a U-Coach weekly Tradition in selecting Athlete of the week Female and Male. For the First time I will be selecting 2 for each sex based on their
performance.

Male: Corey Rigdon with his sensational 800m performance winning the event and completing a blazing 2:04 and Setting a Personal record  by 5 seconds his
previous record is 2:09. On route Corey Broke his personal record in the 200m of 26 seconds and passing through the 400m in 56 seconds.
Congrats Corey

Stephen Stetelman
as we call him The Machine. Powering through 400m setting season best of 55 in a windy conditions and Anchoring the winning team in Both the 4x200m and
4x100m.
Congrats Stephen

Male
Brittany Griffis
Coming from a strong training week was able to dig under her previous 800m personal record by 10 seconds and was part of the winning team in both 4x200m and 4x100m.
Congrats Brittany

Cory McGee
you might know her as "Super Woman" but she is only 13 so we need to change that to "Super Girl". Athlete of the week is not new to Cory this her 3rd consecutive week winning the award. Cory charge the first 400m in a blazing 1:02 and still managed to hold her pace and finished in a smoking 2:14. which at the moment has broken The Mississippi State Record of 2:22.The Time of 2:14 ranks "Super Girl" 2nd in the Nation. Yeah that's right a Mississippi runner is Nationally ranked. Cory's personal record is 2:13 set last year.
Congrats Cory

You will be recognized with your Awards this Saturday at track practice in front of your teammates and families

The Next Official U-Coach Athelete of the week will be counted the week of Valentine's 5k Feb 11th where U-Coach athletes will be participating.
